First Things First: Where to Go When You Land

You’ve just landed in Guam — now what?

Your first stop should be Tumon Bay, the main tourist hub of the island. This is where you’ll find:

  • Major hotels
  • Shopping
  • Nightlife
  • Restaurants
  • One of the most beautiful beaches on the island

Grab a bite at any restaurant along the Tumon Strip, then head straight to the beach to unwind after your flight. Tumon is lively, walkable, and the perfect introduction to Guam.

Best Restaurants in Guam (Local Favorites)

Guam’s food scene is wildly underrated. These are the spots I kept coming back to.

🍔 Meskla Dos

Best burgers on the island. No question. A must-try for casual dining done right.

🍳 Eggs ‘n Things

My favorite breakfast restaurant in the world. Yes — better than most mainland spots.
(There’s also a location in Honolulu, but Guam hits different.)

🍕 Vitale’s

My favorite pizza outside of New York City is right here in Guam.
If you’re craving real, high-quality pizza with fast service and friendly staff, this is the place.

🍗 Jamaican Grill

Jamaican-inspired dishes featuring local BBQ and seafood. Flavorful, filling, and affordable.

🍜 Fuji Ichiban

If I could eat Mayo Chicken with white rice every day, I would.
They also serve excellent ramen — easily my favorite restaurant on the island.

Best Beaches in Guam

Guam’s beaches range from lively and social to secluded and untouched.

🏝 Haputo Bay Beach

A secluded beach that requires a hike — but you’ll likely have it all to yourself. Worth every step.

🌊 Gab Gab Beach

Located on the Naval Base, this beach features a pool-like area that extends into the ocean. Crystal clear water and calm swimming conditions.

🎶 Gun Beach

Known for live music and a great atmosphere.
Pro tip: Walk past the bar and look to the far right for a hidden trail with a scenic coastal walk.

🪜 Spanish Steps

Located in Santa Rita, Guam. This beach requires a 0.5-mile hike in and out, but the views are hands-down my favorite on the entire island.

Best Hikes in Guam

🥾 Mount Lam Lam

The most famous hike on the island — and for good reason.
The summit offers sweeping views of the southern side of Guam, and on clear days, the scenery is unreal.

Must-Do Experiences in Guam

These experiences define Guam. Don’t leave without doing them.

🌊 Talofofo Falls

Located on the southeast side of the island, this is the most impressive waterfall area in Guam and a popular tourist attraction.

🎭 Chamorro Village (Wednesday Nights Only)

Every Wednesday, the community comes together for:

  • Local food
  • Fire dancing
  • Live music
  • Cultural performances

Arrive early to watch the dance schools perform — this is one of the most authentic cultural experiences on the island.

💑 Two Lovers Point

One of Guam’s most iconic landmarks.
Legend says two lovers jumped from the cliff to be together when their families forbade their relationship. The views alone make this stop unforgettable.

🐠 Fish Eye Marine Park

An underwater observatory that lets you see marine life up close in an aquarium-style setting — without getting wet.

There’s also a small zoo in Tumon worth checking out if you have extra time.

Tips for Visiting Guam

  • Renting a car makes exploring the island much easier
  • Some of the best beaches require short hikes — bring good shoes
  • Respect local customs and land — Guam’s culture is deeply important to residents
  • Wednesdays are perfect for Chamorro Village; plan your trip around it if possible

Final Thoughts

Guam is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you leave.

Between the welcoming locals, unreal food, pristine beaches, and unforgettable hikes, it’s an island that truly has everything. Living there for three years allowed me to explore it deeply — and I can confidently say Guam deserves far more attention than it gets.

If you’re looking for a destination that feels authentic, adventurous, and full of heart — Guam is it.
